A legacy gift reflects your commitment to safeguard the future of Virginia’s wildlife—their health, habitat, and ability to thrive in our shared ecosystem. BRWC benefits from your commitment by gaining long-term financial sustainability and ensuring our work continues for generations to come.

IRA DISTRIBUTION

To express our sincere appreciation to those who wish to include BRWC in their estate plan, BRWC offers membership in our Legacy Society.

Please let us know by filling out this Statement of Intent.

Informing us of your plans allows us to express our appreciation during your lifetime. It also offers a meaningful way to extend your philanthropic impact, receive recognition, and connect with a community of like-minded individuals. Charitable Bequests are gifts made through a will or trust that can help you achieve your financial and philanthropic goals, increase your giving options, and maximize tax benefits. Working with your attorney or tax professional can help you determine which type of bequest is best to ensure your goals are met.

Some common types of bequests include:

  • Specific Bequest - A specific dollar amount or asset.
  • Residuary Bequest - All or a percentage of the remainder of the estate after expenses have been paid.
  • Contingent Bequest - A gift to BRWC only in the event of the death of other named beneficiaries.
  • Testamentary Trust - Combines multiple goals and long-term asset management, usually giving lifetime income to family members and the remainder of the trust to BRWC.

You may designate a bequest for a specific area or program, such as medical supplies or education. Alternatively, you can choose to make an unrestricted gift, which allows BRWC to respond to opportunities and challenges as they arise and fulfill our core mission over the long term.
